International Old Testament scholarship commemorates the 65th birthday of H. H. Rowley with particularly great and lively sympathy. H. H. Rowley occupies an unusual and singular position in her circle. If at present there is a very gratifying scientific and human bond between the Old Testament scholars of many countries, and if there is an atmosphere of trust and readiness for objective cooperation at the international Old Testament congresses, this is due in large part to the efforts of H. H. Rowley.
