Weaving a narrative : clothing, conjointure, and composition in twelfth-century French romance

This study is an exploration of the use of clothing and other vestimentary and adornment items as a signifying system in the Old French verse literature of the twelfth century, particularly in light of changes in the material and social conditions of the time and concurrent changes in the representational system and in relation to the process of narrative composition.
